GPS Mobile Phones

GPS enabled cellular phones are all the rage now. For those who are not aware of what a GPS enable mobile phone is, it a combination of navigating device which is used to describe your current location or give directions to whichever locations you want directions for and your own personal cell phone or PDA or laptop. You can track anything once a GPS receiver is connected to your cellular phone and use your mobile phone as a navigator without having to buy an extra gadget at all!

GPS devices have been around for a long time now, so it was only a matter of time before someone would think to come up with a connector for the two. The integrated technology works on the basis of satellite signals. Once you have made your mobile phone GPS compatible, if you want to track something, one device sends a signal wave to the satellite in space, it is picked up, decoded and the location of whatever you are searching for is identified and a signal is sent back giving the precise location.

Gone are the days when for every new emerging technology one had to have a separate gadget, with blue tooth wireless connectivity has boomed like never before and now there is no need to buy separate devices, your own mobile phone can replace the GPS navigator and much more. The iPhone is an example of modern day GPS technology integration. It can download maps of any location in the world, provide accurate directions and store you interest points with an amazing clarity in the screen as well. This is also a blue tooth enabled device that stores your music and other entertainment for you as well.

Long ago, just after the twin tower attacks to be precise, the world went on a tracking spree, all cell phone providers were required to let the cell phone have the ability to be tracked from a minimum of 100 meters away. This was a boon to law enforcers as criminals could now be tracked easily and caught. For parents on the other hand with teenagers just hitting the road, these trackers can be used to identify and monitor their child's location anywhere. All this can be done with installing some software.

Previously software to convert the mobiles or PDAs into GPS capable devices were expensive but now with the advent of Google, many of the software with varying professional levels to suit everyone is available to download from the internet for no charge at all. Now cellular phone providers offer various schemes and packages for GPS services and you can ask your provider to upgrade your mobile phone and make it a GPS compatible device if it isn't already and explore the world using all the maps available for downloading to begin your journey from your phone to global destinations!
